Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the Viswa Bharati University in Shantiniketan over alleged irregularities by sacked Vice Chancellor Sushanta Dattagupta.

Dattagupta was sacked by President Pranab Mukherjee in February this year after an HRD probe team found him guilty of financial and administrative irregularities.


As per media reports, CBI sleuths are questioning officials of the university even as multiple teams are raiding the finance department and residences of Dattagupta in the university campus and Kolkata.


Viswa Bharati's Kolkata office is also being searched by officers of the central probe agency.


Dattagupta, who was appointed to the post in September 2011 by the UPA government.
