Kolkata: In yet another horrific incident of crime against woman which also reminds of December 16 Nirbhaya incident, a woman was allegedly gang-raped in a moving car by four to five persons early on Monday in the city's posh satellite town Salt Lake's sector-V.

According to media reports, the victim, originally from Nepal, has been staying in Baguiati for the last three years. She was rescued by the police in an unconscious state from the roadside at Sector-I at Salt Lake in the early hours today.

The culprits forced the woman, staying at Baguiati in northeast Kolkata, into the vehicle in the Sector V area of Salt Lake and sexually assaulted her.

Officials of the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate also said that the woman, probably an employee of a restaurant, was waiting for transport near New Town when the alleged rapists in a vehicle stopped in front of her and offered her a lift to her destination.

After the woman accepted the offer and got into the car, her co-passengers allegedly raped her by turns in the running vehicle. They later dumped her near Baisakhi in Salt Lake Sector-I in a critical condition.

She was spotted by a mobile unit of the police, which admitted her to a hospital in the area.

An FIR was lodged with the Electronic Complex Police Station under Salt Lake Sector-V against four to five unknown persons on the basis of her statement given to the police alleging gang-rape.

The DC, DD, Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate, Kankar Prasad Barui said that they have received the complaint and an investigation is on, as per PTI.

A case under Section 376 G (gang-rape) has been filed at the Electronic Complex police station under the Bidhannagar Commissionerate.

A massive raid was on to nab the culprits, he said, adding, till now there was no arrest.

In a similar case, Suzette Jordan, 37, was gang-raped in a moving car on the intervening night of 5, 6 February 2012 by five men who offered her lift to her house from a night club situated at Kolkata's famous Park Street.
