There is an interesting answer to this practice, which has reportedly become a tradition now.

When a driver hits a pedestrian in China he just makes sure the victim is dead.

Such accidents are reportedly often hushed up as accidents and not murder.

According to a report in scoopwhoop.com, in one such accident a BMW hit a two-year-old girl, and when her grandmother shouted at the driver, he reversed the car and ran over her again, to kill her for “good”.

There is a reason for this!

Citing an ancient Chinese proverb "It is better to hit to kill than to hit and injure", the report claimed that the compensation policies in Chinese laws encourage this practice.

If a person injures someone in an accident, they have to pay compensation for the rest of the victim's life, while the compensation is a one time affair in the event of the victim's death.

So drivers simply opt for the option which clearly appears to be more economic to them, the report claimed.
