Madhesi leader Rajendra Mahato injured in clash with Police in Nepal
Senior Madhesi leader Rajendra Mahato has sustained injuries in a clash with the Nepal Police during protest in Jogbani area near India-Nepal border last evening.
Jogbani/Nepal: Senior Madhesi leader Rajendra Mahato has sustained injuries in a clash with the Nepal Police during protest in Jogbani area near India-Nepal border last evening.
Nepal Sadbhavana Party (NSP) president Mahato has sustained injuries in his head and legs. He was rushed to a nearby hospital.
On Saturday, Mahato and other Madhesi protesters entered Nepal from India and tried to stage a sit-in on no man`s land.
According to reports, some of the protestors started pelting stones when the police asked them to shift their demonstration elsewhere.
As a result, police lathi-charged and in the clash, Mahato got injured.
The new constitution splits the plains into several provinces contrary to the Madhesi parties` demand for only two provinces in the Terai.
The government had tabled a Constitution Amendment Bill with a view to taking the dissident parties into confidence.
