Six Chinese military officers promoted as general
The Chinese military has promoted six of its senior officers as general, the highest rank in the 2.3 million strong People`s Liberation Army.

President Xi Jinping, who heads China`s highest military body the Central Military Commission, presented the officers with certificates of command at a promotion ceremony yesterday, state-run Xinhua news agency reported today.
The promoted officers include Deputy Chief of the PLA General Political Department Wu Changde, Political Commissar of the PLA General Armament Department Wang Hongyao, Political Commissar of the Academy of Military Sciences Sun Sijing, Political Commissar of the Beijing Military Area Command Liu Fulian, Commander of the Nanjing Military Area Command Cai Yingting and Commander of the Guangzhou Military Area Command Xu Fenlin.
Meanwhile, China`s military will start a new recruitment season from tomorrow targeting graduates and post graduates.
The annual military recruitment will run from August 1 to September 30 for the first time since the season was moved from October, official media reported. The recruitment will mainly target young people educated to levels above senior high school and vocational school and highly educated candidates will be given priority, according to a circular issued by the State Council and the Central Military Commission.
