New Delhi: Ahead of the Assembly elections in Manipur, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday released its first list of 31 candidates.

The names of the candidates were finalised in a meeting of the party`s Central Election Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Party President Amit Shah, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and other prominent members of the party.


Out of the 31 names of candidates announced by the party, 20 will contest election in the first phase of polling and the remaining 11 in the second.


Manipur will vote for 60 assembly constituencies in two-phase on March 4 and 8 respectively. 


The counting of votes will take place on March 11.
