The coastal districts of Odisha are likely to receive rain from 28-30 October. A low-pressure area is likely to form over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around 29th October. Under its influence, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely to occur over Coastal Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal during the second half of the 1st week, the India Meteorological Department said.

In view of the forecast, Revenue and Disaster Management Department has issued directons to all collectors to be on alert.



Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over districts Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore. Rain and thundershower at isolated places is also likely over interior distrcts.


Fishermen have been advised not to venture into deep sea of west central and north Bay of Bengal area on 29 and 30 October. Also fishermen who are in deep sea have been advised to return to the coast by 28th night. 


Authorities have been asked to strictly implement the fishemen warning. Officials are closely monitoring the situation and have assured that necessary steps will be taken, as and when required.
