New Delhi: The engrossing Twitter war over Gurmehar Kaur's campaign against ABVP turned ugly on Tuesday, after renowned poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar hit out at Virender Sehwag and Yogeshwar Dutt with his 'hardly literate players, wrestler' tweet. After Yogi issued a strong response to Akhtar, Babita and Ritu Phogat also hit back at him.
If a hardly literate player or a wrestler troll a pacifist daughter of a martyr its understandable but whats wrong with some educated folks

The twitter war started after Sehwag earned the ire of twitterati for trolling Gurmehar Kaur with his 'placard tweet', which read, 'I didn't score two triple centuries, my bat did." But later issued clarification that it wasn't meant for the Kargil martyr's daughter.
Later, Olympic bronze medallist Yogeshwar Dutt shared a meme, comparing Kaur to Hitler and Osama bin Laden. Then, Yogeshwar also replied to Akhtar with his tweet.
And now, Javed Akhtar's jibe has attracted a rather strong response from Mahavir, Babita and Ritu Phogat.

“I spent a lifetime trying to win medals for this country, and they didn’t spare a moment to call me illiterate. There’s no man more knowledgeable than the one who has dedicated his life to the nation. Jai Hind!" wrote an emotional Mahavir Singh Phogat.

"Maine jab school dekha bhi nhi tha, tabse bharat mata ki jai bol rahi hun. Deshbhakti Kitabon se nahi ati (I have been saying 'Bharat Mata ki jai' since the time when I wasn't even in school. One doesn't learn patriotism from books), replied Babita.
Gurmehar, a 20-year-old Delhi University student, started a social media campaign against the violence caused by ABVP in Delhi University’s North Campus on 22 February.
While criticizing her for this campaign, people resurfaced her video where she said “Pakistan didn’t kill my father, war did.”
