Indian shooter tests positive for coronavirus, goes into isolation

Indian shooter Divyansh Singh Panwar has gone into home isolation after being tested positive for the deadly coronavirus that continues to threaten the entire world.

Confirming the news, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) said that Panwar recently underrwent COVID-19 test along with many other shooters at Karni Singh Shooting Range in New Delhi and his result came out to be positive.

The SAI further confirmed that Panwar, who is standing at the World No.1 spot in the rakings for the men's 10m air rifle, continues to remain asymptomatic.

"The shooters and support staff were on a one week Diwali break and reported to the camp on November 18. All campers were on a seven-day quarantine upon joining the camp, as per the Standard Operating Procedures set up by the Sports Authority of India," the SAI statement read.

Panwar has already secured a quota for Tokyo Olympics next year. He is currently a part of the national camp which is taking place at the Karni Singh Shooting Range in the national capital.

The two-month shooting training camp, which comprises of 32 shooters (18 men and 14 women), eight coaches, three foreign coaches and two support staff, began on October 14 and is slated to run until December 14.
