New Delhi:Country's top skeet shooter Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Sheeraz Sheikh were among a few who will not be part of a nine-member Indian squad travelling to Acapulco, Mexico for the upcoming ISSF Shotgun World Cup.
The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) today announced the squad for the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup second stage scheduled to be held in the Mexican city from March 17 to 27.
Also missing from the action will be the trap team comprising Seema Tomar, Rajeshwari Kumari and Manisha Keer. Sangram Dhaiya, Arti Singh and Saniya Sheikh will also not be there.
NRAI president Raninder Singh said, "We have begun the season on a strong note and are confident that our shotgun shooters will continue the good work in Mexico. We wish the squad all the very best."
In the recently-concluded Combined ISSF World Cup first stage in New Delhi, India's shotgun squad had won one silver medal through Ankur Mittal in double trap.
Angad Vir Singh Bajwa had also won a bronze in the skeet mixed team discipline, conducted for the very first time in an ISSF World Cup stage as an unofficial Test event, partnering USA's Haley Dunn.
Acapulco will see a total of 216 shotgun shooters from 32 nations featuring in 224 starts for the five set of medals up for grabs.
There will also be an unofficial test event for the trap mixed team event.
The selection criteria for the Indian team for international events also take into account Minimum Travel Scores (MTS) achieved.
