New Delhi: A few days before his 94th birthday, legendary actor Dilip Kumar was admitted to the Lilavati hospital in Mumbai after he complained of swelling in his right leg. The good news is that the thespian has been discharged from the hospital and is on the road to recovery.

Known as the 'Tragedy King' of Hindi cinema, thanks to his spell-binding performances in films, Dilip Sahab celebrated his birthday while he was in the hospital. 


Fans and well-wishers from across the globe prayed for his speedy recovery and sent greeting to him on his birthday.

The living legend made his debut in 1944 with 'Jwar Bhata' and his career in films spans over six decades.


Born in Peshawar as Yousuf Khan, the actor adopted Dilip Kumar aas his screen name. He has given memorable performances in films like 'Mughal-e-Azam', 'Ganga Jaumna', 'Devdas', 'Andaz, Babul', 'Aan', 'Amar', 'Shaheed', 'Naya Daur', 'Madhumati', 'Ram Aur Shyam' to name a few.
