New Delhi: Film producer Prernaa Arora has been reportedly arrested by Economic Offences Wing on Saturday for being involved in alleged fraud of Rs 16 crore. She was produced before the Mumbai's Esplanade court after which she was sent to EOW custody till December 10. The court will hear the matter next on Monday for further proceedings. Prernaa who runs the production house by the name of KriArj Entertainment, has produced successful films like 'Rustom', 'PadMan', 'Pari' and 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha'.

According to reports, Prernaa was arrested after film financier Vashu Bhagnani accused her of cheating him of Rs 16 crores As per reports, she was found having multiple passports and pan cards in her possession. According to Vashu, Prernaa's KriArj Entertainment, which produced the film Fanney Khan, did not credit him as the film distributors causing a breach in the agreement. Vashu has slapped charges not just on Prernaa but also her partner Arjun N Kapoor and her mother Protima Arora. 


This is not the first incident when Prernaa has landed herself in trouble. The famous filmmaker got embroiled in multiple controversies this year, most of which were taken to court. A few months back, she was accused by company Padma Ismat of fraud. 


Prernaa has been running KriArj Entertainment with her partner Arjun N Kapoor. Only a few months back, she ran into trouble with John Abraham during the making of 'Parmanu' who filed not one but three cases against her for cheating, breach of trust, defamation and offences committed under the IT act. Later, she had a fallout with 'Kedarnath' director Abhishek Kapoor whom she accused of wasting excessive resources during the shoot.
