MumbaiActress Richa Chadha is saddened to see the condition of the beaches and roads here during Ganesh Chaturthi, which will begin on Friday. So, she has lent support to an initiative that promotes the use of eco-friendly Ganesh idols.
Richa visited the centre of Tree Ganesha here on Wednesday. It is an initiative by Dattadri Kothur. Ganesh idols are designed in such a way that they grow into a tree after immersion.
Richa and Kothur even made an idol at the workshop.
Richa said in a statement: "I'm happy to support this. This initiative is something I have heard of in the past, but this is the first time that I have physically been part of something like this. I think it's high time we need to stop polluting the environment in the name of festivals and be careful as soon it would be too late."
"It saddens me to see such state of the beaches, roads during Ganesh festivities when burnt crackers and dirty beaches are the outcome of the 'Visarjan'. So, I think Tree Ganesha is the perfect solution that helps not only to save the environment, but also to add value to the environment by planting trees."
