Mumbai: Sonu Nigam’s ‘forced religiousness’ tweet has stirred massive controversy. On one hand, the singer has drawn people’s wrath while on the other, many have shown solidarity with him. Speaking exclusively to Zeenews, Sonu clarified his stance and said that his tweets were never meant to hurt anyone’s religious sentiments.
While talking to Zeenews, Sonu said that he made the ‘gundagardi’ remark while referring to those people who state that their religion is bigger and superior than other faiths. He said he has no problems with people belonging to any religion and he respects humanity above all.
On being asked about the criticism he drew from within the industry, Sonu, without naming anyone said that people made a judgement before knowing the truth in its entirety. He said that the “forced religiousness” tweet shouldn’t be picked in isolation and instead one must read the entire thread to understand the context.
Nigam, who idealises Mohammed Rafi, said that people who misunderstood him should have shown faith in him rather than blindly believing what was being shown or told to them.
He added that he doesn’t fear the consequences. He is least perturbed about the actions against him. He said that God, who has created all, will take care of him.
