New Delhi: Veteran actress Daisy Shah, who was hailed as India's best-known child star of the 1950's, has claimed that she was raped and abused when she was at the peak of her career, a tabloid reported.

During an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Irani narrated the horrific incident and said,”The man who did this was supposed to be my guardian.  One night in the hotel room he violated me, hit me with a belt and warned me that he would kill me if I ever told anyone about what had happened.”


The actress further revealed that after the unfortunate incident she became really “protective” of her sisters Honey Irani (mother of Farhan and Zoya Akhtar) and Menka Irani (mother of Farah and Sajid Khan).`


On being questioned why she broke her silence after so many years, Irani said that she wants parents and guardians to be more protective towards children who are working in films and television.


Daisy was last seen in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Happy New Year. She is best known for her roles in Naya Daur, Dhool Ka Phool and many others. She has worked with creme de la creme of Bollywood like  Ashok Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Dev Anand, Vyjayanthimala and Meena Kumari.
