Demonetisation: Banks issue new series of Rs 500 notes

New Delhi: New currency notes of Rs 500 were issued by banks on Sunday.

The notes were issued by banks in Delhi, Bhopal and Mumbai. However, it will take time for ATMs to start dispensing these notes.

Earlier today the Currency Note Press (CNP), Nashik, has started dispatching new notes of Rs 500 denomination to the Reserve Bank of India.

The first consignment of five million pieces of new Rs 500 notes had already been dispatched earlier today.

Another five million pieces are to be dispatched by Wednesday.
