With electric cars failing to lower the range anxiety, many have started to view CNG cars as an alternate and affordable option as petrol sells at an all-time high price. The demand for CNG four-wheelers is increasing with the daily revisions of petrol and diesel prices. To meet the demand, car manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors, among others, are now coming up with new CNG cars in the Indian automobile market.
Here is the list of five upcoming CNG cars.
Maruti is working on a CNG variant of Swift, one of its best selling models. The CNG model of Swift is expected to go on sale by the end of this year. The car is expected to have a factory-fitted CNG kit. The variant is expected to be launched with a hike in price.
Maruti is in process of upgrading the Maruti Dzire with S-CNG technology. It is currently offered with only a petrol engine. A Dzire test car with a CNG kit was spotted earlier. The launch date of the model is not yet announced.
A CNG variant of Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG is also in production. It is expected that the option will come with factory fitted CNG kit. It's also expected that the car will be launched with the VXI trim.
Ertiga CNG and Brezza CNG are expected to share some similarities in setup. The price of the CNG variant will be slightly more than the regular version.
Tata Motors is also working on offering CNG options to customers in the Indian market. It is reportedly working on a CNG variant of Tata Tiago. A test car of the CNG model was reportedly spotted on roads numerous times ahead of its launch.
Tata is working on a CNG variant of its Tigor sedan. The upcoming car is reportedly expected to receive options of factory-fitted CNG kits, according to a report by Financial Express. Tata is yet to release the launch date of the model.
