The first authorised Apple store in India has officially opened. Here we have compiled five lesser-known facts about Apple BKC.
One thousand tiles cover the ceiling of Apple's first store in India. The 1,000 tiles that make up the ceiling are comprised of 408 pieces of wood each, comprising 31 modules per tile. Beyond the glass façade to the underside of the outside canopy, the carved timber ceiling forms a triangle.
Two Rajasthani stone walls and a 14-meter stainless steel staircase leading from the ground floor to the cantilevered mezzanine welcome clients as they enter the store.
With a dedicated solar array and no reliance on fossil fuels for store operations, Apple claims its BKC location is one of the most energy-efficient Apple Store locations in the world. The store uses only renewable energy, making its operations carbon neutral.
Customers from all around the world are welcome at the Apple BKC shop, where staff members will educate visitors on Apple products, suggest the best solutions based on their needs, and promote the Apple Trade-In programme. More than 100 staff members who speak more than 20 different languages work at the store.
Beginning on April 18, Apple BKC will provide a special Today at Apple series called "Mumbai Rising." These open events bring together tourists, regional artists, and creatives, and they will use Apple goods and services to provide interactive experiences that honour the regional community and culture.
