India's smartphone market sales statistics for the fourth quarter of 2022 have been made public by global technology market research company Counterpoint Research. The statistics indicate that during the fourth quarter of 2022, the Apple iPhone 13 was the most popular smartphone in the nation. According to the survey, the iPhone 13 had a 4 percent market share of sales, followed by 3 percent sales shares for both the Samsung Galaxy M13 and the Xiaomi Redmi A1.
This is the first time an iPhone has topped the sales chart in the cost-conscious Indian market, which is dominated by low-cost phone options. Recall that for the same quarter in 2016, the top five selling smartphones were the Realme C11, Oppo A54, Galaxy M12, Redmi Note 10s, and Redmi 9A. They are all priced at or below Rs 15,000 each.
The iPhone 13 was released last year and features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with a ceramic shield for protection. The model is equipped with Apple's A15 Bionic chipset, which is also found in the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus this year. In terms of battery life, the iPhone 13 has a claimed battery life of up to 19 hours.
The iPhone 13 has a 12MP TrueDepth front camera with Night mode and 4K Dolby Vision HDR recording for selfies. The device's imaging capabilities include a 12MP wide sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor. The device is also water resistant to IP68 standards. MagSafe accessories are also supported for faster wireless charging.
