Audi, the luxury carmaker from Germany has unveiled the 2022 Audi A8L facelift of the flagship sedan from the brand. The Audi A8 has received a subtle facelift with updated design, added features and a top-trim limited only for the Chinese market. The top spec trim for China is called Audi A8 L Horch and will take on Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. It gets even longer wheelbase than standard A8 L at 5.45-metre.
Audi A8 L in India is available with a 55 TFSI Quattro V6 petrol engine delivering 340hp and is priced at Rs 1.58 crore (ex-showroom, India). The flagship sedan is expected to receive the facelifted version next year.
The engine line-up includes six-cylinder 3.0 TDI diesel and 3.0 TFSI petrol producing 286hp and 340hp respectively. There's also a TFSIe plug-in hybrid option with 461hp output and a 4.0 TFSI petrol. All engines are connected to an eight-speed ‘Tiptronic’ automatic gearbox and Audi’s ‘Quattro’ all-wheel drive system.
The cabin of the A8 L gets an updated infotainment system with its latest MIB 3 software., two 10.1-inch infotainment screens at the rear seats with a touchscreen remote, cooler with a bar compartment among others.
There's a China-specific A8 L Horch that has more wheelbase than standard A8 and gets new wheels, chrome exterior, two-tone paint, diamond quilting, foot-massaging among others. The Horch is powered by the same 3.0-litre V6.
Audi A8 now gets a redesigned front-end with a wider grille with air intakes at the edges of the bumper. It also gets Audi’s Digital Matrix LED headlights, which use around 1.3 million micro-mirrors to split the light into individual pixels, similar to a digital projector.
Audi A8 gets new S Line package with styling features including S8-inspired blades in the side intakes, otional chrome and black exterior packages. There will be four new metallic and five new matte shades.
