iPhone 14 launch: New pill and hole design, camera upgrade, A16 chip and more

Apple is said to launch a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max in September this year.

A recent leak suggests that the iPhone 14 Max will include a 90Hz OLED display, 6GB RAM, and a built-in CPU.

According to rumours, the iPhone 14 models will likely keep the A15 chip introduced in the iPhone 13 series, while the iPhone 14 Pro variants will get an improved A16 chip. This would be the first time that the Pro iPhone models received a speedier chip, with Apple likely doing so to save money and address persistent supply difficulties.

The camera on new iPhones gets improved every year, and the iPhone 14 is no exception. The Ultra Wide camera will be improved, and there's a chance that Apple could introduce a "periscope" zoom lens that allows for even larger optical magnification, but it's unclear whether this will happen in 2022 or 2023. The Pro iPhone models are rumoured to have 48-megapixel cameras and 8K video recording capabilities, however the ordinary iPhone 14 models will not have these features.

Unfortunately, this feature will only be available on the Pro models, with the regular notch remaining on the more cheap iPhone 14 variants.`

In 2022, iPhone sizes will change, and Apple will discontinue the 5.4-inch iPhone mini, which proved unpopular with users. Following the disappointing sales of the iPhone mini, Apple intends to focus on larger iPhone sizes for its flagship handsets, and we expect to see a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. This year, there will be no 5.4-inch iPhone 14 mini.
