The Permanent Account Number (PAN) is an alphanumeric identifier consisting of ten characters, issued as a laminated card by the Income Tax Department. Notably, the government has not yet announced the rollout date for PAN 2.0, but the initiative is expected to be a major step towards improving taxpayer services and strengthening the digital infrastructure.
