New Delhi: Ola Electric is off to a flying start after opening the bookings for its much-awaited electric scooter. The automaking arm of Ola has so far received more than one lakh bookings for its yet-to-be-launched electric scooter.
Besides Ola Electric, several other brands are selling their electric bikes while a few others are planning to launch their scooters in the coming months. Here’s a list of the top five electric bikes that can or will rival Ola Electric in Indian markets:
One of the firms that could potentially rival Ola Electric in coming times is Simple Energy. The Bengaluru-based startup is reportedly planning to launch its electric bike, Simple One, in August 2021.
Simple Energy claims that its upcoming scooter could offer a range of 240 km in a single 70 minutes charge. The electric scooter could be priced at around Rs 1,20,000.
Ather Energy launched Ather 450X last year. Since then, it has remained one of the best selling electric scooters in the Indian market. At present, the scooter is at Rs 1,32,426 in Delhi.
The electric scooter takes 3 hours 35 minutes for an 80% charge and offers a range of 116 km on a full charge.
TVS iQube is also one of the best selling electric scooters in Indian markets. The scooter can notch 40 kmph speed in just 4.2 seconds. On a full charge, the bike offers a maximum distance of 75 km in a single charge. The bike generates peak torque of 140 Nm and has a kerb weight of 118 Kg.
Yamaha India is planning to launch its electric bike in the Indian market in the coming months. The automaker has previously pointed out that it’s currently watching Indian policies around electric vehicles closely before making inroads with its electric bike.
Suzuki is reportedly planning to launch the electric version of Suzuki Burgman, which is one of the most powerful fuel-based two-wheelers selling in India. The company, however, hasn’t revealed any launch date.
