BharatCaller, an Indian Caller ID app has been unveiled to compete with Truecaller. The engineers who created it claim that this Caller ID does not upload your call logs, contacts or messages to their servers like foreign and other caller IDs. The employees also don't have the right to access the database of your phone numbers.
Prajwal Sinha, an engineer and alumnus of IIM Bangalore, who built BharatCaller, said that this app can become an alternative to Truecaller in the country. It is absolutely safe and does not retain the data of your call records, messages or contacts. This app is available on Playstore and iOS for free and till now it has been downloaded 6000 times.
Prajwal said that BharatCaller never uploads call logs and user contacts on its servers and thus never encroaches on the right to privacy. All the data of this app is stored in encrypted formats.
Recently the Indian Army blocked Truecaller as it was suspected to be a spyware and therefore this idea came up to launch an Indian Caller ID app, said Prajwal Sinha. There is no Indian caller ID app that is even half as successful or has as many good features as Truecaller. After this Prajwal and his friend Kunal Pasricha decided to form BharatCaller.
Both of them did three months of research on how Caller ID works. After this, in December 2020, BharatCaller was made within 6 months. It was tested successfully and the first version is designed for 10 million users. BharatCaller was launched for the general public on 15 August 2021.
Prajwal said that it will take a month for BharatCaller to become completely like a pro and AI-based algorithms related to CallerID are being improved. Also, it has been launched in many languages.
Prajwal Sinha said that other international companies competing with Truecaller are Whoscall (Taiwan), Hiya (USA), Showcaller (Taiwan) and Mr. Number (USA)
