The Delhi High Court questioned Juhi Chawla for directly filing a suit against setting up of 5G wireless networks in the country without giving any representation to the government on her concerns related to the technology.
Actress-environmentalist has been in the news lately for her petition against 5G technology. However, she received flak for it, with many calling it a 'publicity stunt'. The court directed her and two others to deposit Rs 20 lakh in costs imposed on them for abusing the process of law by way of their lawsuit challenging 5G wireless network technology. The Delhi High Court questioned the actress for directly filing a suit against setting up of 5G wireless networks in the country without giving any representation to the government on her concerns related to the technology.

She starred in Jhankaar Beats, 3 Deewarein, 7½ Phere and My Brother Nikhil, and Bas Ek Pal (2006) - and all these earned her rave reviews. She featured opposite Punjabi singer Gurdas Mann in language feature Des Hoyaa Pardes in 2004. The film won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Punjabi.
She also featured in the historical drama, a Punjabi film titled Waris Shah: Ishq Daa Waaris, which also won a National Film Award. She was also seen in Onir's critically acclaimed anthology film I Am with Manisha Koirala as her co-star. And in 2016 featured in the woman-centric drama Chalk n Duster with Shabana Azmi.
She won the 1984 Miss India beauty pageant and then went on to make her debut in the 1986 release Sultanat. However, it was with Aamir Khan starrer Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), which earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and made her a household name.
Juhi Chawla is known for her comic timing and impressive acting prowess. The actress has worked with all the A-listed top Bollywood actors in her movie career including late legendary Rishi Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Anil Kapoor, Govinda and Sunny Deol among others.
Juhi and her businessman husband Jay Mehta are co-owners of the Indian Premier League cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) along with Shah Rukh Khan. The actress co-founded the production company Dreamz Unlimited with SRK and produced three films including Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani (2000).
The actress has many awards and accolades to her credit including two Filmfare trophies for Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke respectively. She also bagged the Most Sensational Actress Bollywood Movie Award in 1999 for Duplicate. She won the Best Supporting Actress trophy by Star Screen Award among many other honours.
