The second wave of the deadly COVID-19 virus has been much worse and more infectious than the last. Amid the second wave, many Bollywood stars found themselves testing positive for COVID-19 as many had resumed shooting and were returning to normal routines at the beginning of 2021.
However, the lax regulations and decline in social distancing led to a spike in the COVID-19 cases which inevitably hit the Indian film industry.
Here are Bollywood stars that were affected by COVID-19 in 2021:
The '3 Idiots' actor Aamir Khan had tested positive for COVID-19 on March 24. The actor will be next seen in 'Laal Singh Chaddha' co-starring Kareena Kapoor Khan.
On March 9, Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor's mother, Neetu Kapoor announced that the 'Barfi' actor had tested positive for COVID-19.
On April 25, Bollywood actress Pooja Hegde had taken to Instagram to announce to her fans that she tested COVID-19 positive. Currently, she is under home quarantine.
The 'Student of the Year 2' actress Tara Sutaria had tested positive for COVID-19 on March 13. Fortunately, she had a quick recovery and tested negative for the virus on March 17 as per her social media posts.
On March 12, Manoj Bajpayee tested positive for COVID-19 while shooting for his upcoming film 'Despatch'. Unfortunately, he had passed on the infection to his family as well.
On March 22, the young actor Kartik Aryan had tested positive for COVID-19 while he was shooting for the horror-comedy 'Bhool Bhulaiya 2'. He later tested negative on April 5.
Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh had tested COVID-19 positive on April 17.
Actor Vicky Kaushal informed his fans on April 5 that he had tested positive for COVID-19. Along with Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal was shooting for their Mr. Lele when they tested COVID-19 positive. Later, the actor tested negative on April 17.
Actress Alia Bhatt had tested positive for COVID-19 on April 2. The Raazi actress also added that she was under home quarantine during recovery.
On April 5, Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar had informed fans she tested positive for COVID-19. However, the ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’ actress tested negative on April 17.
On April 16, Bollywood fashion designer Manish Malhotra had tested positive for COVID-19 and tested negative on April 24.
Superstar Akshay Kumar had been hospitalized on April 5 as a precautionary measure, after testing COVID-19 positive on April 4. He recovered and tested negative for the virus on April 13.
Sonu Sood had tested positive for COVID-19 on April 17 but recovered quickly and tested negative for the virus on April 24.
Bollywood actor Govinda had tested COVID-19 positive on April 4, 2021. Fortunately, on April 8, he had announced that he tested negative for COVID-19 and was back to work.
Bollywood actors Arjun Rampal tested COVID-19 positive on April 17 but recovered from the virus a week later as he had been vaccinated earlier.
The ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ actress had taken to her Instagram stories on April 6 to reveal that she had been diagnosed with COVID-19. Later, she tested negative for COVID-19 on April 17.
