As the popular saying goes, marriages are made in heaven! But even if we accept they are, not all relationships work. When Ayesha Mukherjee confirmed her divorce with cricketer Shikhar Dhawan on social media, she was trolled by a certain section of netizens. In a country like India, the institution of marriage is revered, and when a relationship fails, it's often accompanied by societal judgement. Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan and his wife Ayesha Mukherjee, a Melbourne-based boxer, have parted ways after eight years of marriage. Ayesha was the first to confirm this on Instagram and had posted, "...When my second marriage broke down it was really scary." But she went on to admit, "I realised my fear and the meaning I gave to the word divorce was my own doing… Divorce means choosing myself and not settling and sacrificing my own life for the sake of a marriage.”
Aamir Khan and Reena Datta got married in 1986 but in 2002, they filed a petition for mutual divorce and decided to separate because of "temperamental differences". Aamir married Kiran Rao in December 2005. The two had met on the sets of Lagaan. But after 15 years of marriage, the two called it quits in July this year.

Shweta Tiwari got married for the first time to Raja Chaudhary in 1998 and their daughter Palak was born in October 2000. She was a teenager when she married Raja and later accused him of domestic violence. The actress tied the knot with Abhinav Kohli in 2013 after dating him for a few years. The couple has a son, Reyansh, but the relationship didn't last long and they parted ways.

Actress Neelima Azeem married Pankaj Kapoor in 1979 but they later divorced. The duo has a son, Bollywood superstar Shahid Kapoor. Azeem later married Rajesh Khattar, also an actor, and had a son Ishaan Khattar who is also a popular Bollywood actor of today. Neelima parted ways with Rajesh but the two are on on cordial terms today.

Kishore Kumar's first wife was Ruma Guha Thakurta and they got married in 1950 but parted ways after around eight years. Kishore Kumar's second wife, the famous actress Madhubala, passed away in 1969. Kishore Kumar's third wife was Yogeeta Bali, and his fourth wife till death was Leena Chandavarkar.
Television actress Sneha Wagh had opened up about her failed marriages. "My first marriage failed because of domestic violence," Sneha had told the media. While she got married to businessman Anurag Solanki in January 2015, the couple's relationship hit rough patches soon and they reportedly started living separately.
