Career-wise, he didn't directly enter the entertainment industry, rather he joined a media firm. It was only after his first few jobs in the media industry, he ventured off into modelling.
In 1999, the 'Garam Masala' actor secured second place in the Manhunt International in Philippines. This led him to model in Hong Kong, London and New York. His booming modelling career landed him gigs in several ads and music videos.
For the unversed, John made his debut as a producer with Ayushmann Khurrana's 'Vicky Donor'. The film also starred Annu Kapoor and Yami Gautam in lead roles.
On the personal front, John is very passionate about animal rights. He is a vegetarian and supports causes by the organisation PETA. In fact, in 2013, he penned a letter to the then Minister for Environment and Forests, Jayanthi Natarajan to request to ban animals from circuses.
