Kartik Aaryan is the ex-boyfriend of both Sara and Ananya, according to Karan Johar. He asked about Sara's experience maintaining a cordial relationship with her former partner.

"I don't want to say that it's all easy, because then it comes across as a little more frivolous than it is. It isn't always easy. When you are involved with anybody, whether it's friends, professionally, romantically, especially if I am, I get involved and invested. In response, Sara Ali Khan said that she is not the Sara Shubman Gill is seeing. "Sara ka sara duniya galat Sara ke peechhe pada hai," she said.
