Lathmar Holi 2021: Where it is celebrated and how

Celebrated on the Purnima Tithi of Phalguna Month, Lathmar Holi (wooden stick) is celebrated a few days ahead of the main Holi festival. It majorly is celebrated in Barsana, Nandgaon, Mathura etc with full festive fervour. Lathmar Holi is revered and celebrated at the Radha Rani temple in Barsana, Uttar Pradesh. According to legends, it is believed that Sri Krishna and his friends were beaten with wooden sticks (Lath) by Radha and her friends, when they came to throw colours on them. Holi is a vibrant, high-on-energy festival widely celebrated in Mathura and its nearby towns, from where Radha belonged. Holi is on March 29, and Holika Dahan is on March 28 - a day prior to the main festival. Meanwhile, Lathmar Holi is being celebrated in Barsana, Uttar Pradesh on March 23, 2021.
