'Mrs. Undercover' To 'Darlings': Women-Centric Films That Must Be On Your Watchlist

OTT platform is becoming more popular and more films and TV shows are coming out, directors are focusing more on the story than on the stars. There's no doubt that films with strong female leads are getting more attention and praise in the entertainment business, off late. From Alia Bhatt's 'Darlings' and Yami Gautam Dhar's 'Lost' to Radhika Apte's 'Mrs. Undercover', these women have made a lot of noise with their acting. Here are 5 women-centric films that you can tune into over the weekend.

Starring Radhika Apte as Mrs. Undercover, the film is a spy comedy film that chronicles the story of an undercover agent who has been summoned for a mission after ten years of living the life of a homemaker. 

Inspired by true events, LOST chronicles the pursuit of a young crime reporter Vidhi Sahani, bodied by Yami Gautam, who is working on the story of the sudden, mysterious disappearance of a young theatre activist.

The film follows the real-life journey of aspiring model turned air hostess Neerja Bhanot played by Sonam Kapoor. This seemingly ordinary teenager showed exceptional courage when she gave ups her life to save over 300 hostages on a hijacked airline. 

Darlings depicts Badrunissa’s (Alia Bhatt) unconditional love for her husband Hamza, (Vijay Varma) makes her overlook all the red flags in their relationship. Her mother’s (Shefali Shah) constant warnings go unnoticed as the young wife continues to hope for a change in her husband’s demeanour.and albeit clumsily.

The film is inspired by the story of Sehmat Khan (Alia Bhatt), a Kashmiri Muslin spy who makes a powerful statement on behalf of several women. It takes a lot of courage and determination for a woman to choose the interests of her country over her own life, when she is married to a person from an opposing country. She was a regular woman, but unique in her own ways.
