Sonali Phogat dies of heart attack at 42, a look at ex-Bigg Boss star's BIG controversies!

BJP leader and popular social media sensation, late Sonali Phogat succumbed to a heart attack in Goa. She was 42. The former Tik Toker from Haryana was on a visit to Goa along with some of her staff members. On Monday night, she was brought to St Anthony Hospital at Anjuna in North Goa district after complaining of uneasiness, sources told PTI. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Mapusa) Jivba Dalvi said she was brought dead to the hospital. "Prime facie, the cause of death is established as a heart attack but further medical examination is on," he said. The postmortem would be conducted at the state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital at Bambolim, the official told PTI.

Sonali participated in the reality show Bigg Boss season 14 and hogged the limelight. Her beautiful dance moves were appreciated by all. She featured in many Punjabi and Haryanvi music videos, TV shows, and films. Sonali expressed her likeness to fellow contestant Aly Goni on the show and their chemistry was talked about.

Confirming her death, BJP's Hisar district president Capt Bhupender said, "Sonali ji was in Goa. I spoke to her assistant and he said that she died of a heart attack". "She has passed away. I have been given information that she was in Goa," Haryana BJP chief O P Dhankar told PTI. Phogat had unsuccessfully contested from the Adampur Assembly constituency in Hisar against Kuldeep Bishnoi in the 2019 Assembly election. Bishnoi, who was then in the Congress, recently joined the BJP. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala, and BJP leaders O P Dhankar and Kuldeep Bishnoi took to Twitter to condole Phogat's demise. Bishnoi had met Phogat in Hisar a few days ago. Phogat was active on social media and had recently posted photos of her meeting with Bishnoi. She had participated in a Janamashtami function in Hisar a few days back.

Phogat kickstarted her career with Doordarshan Hisar in 2006. Later, she joined BJP’s national working committee and became the national vice-president of the BJP’s Mahila Morcha. From anchoring shows to acting, Sonali Phogat did it all. She took up film and TV show offers However, reportedly while she was in Mumbai, her husband Sanjay Phogat was found dead under mysterious circumstances near his farmhouse in Hisar.

Sonali once again shot to headlines when one of her videos appeared online where she could be seen hitting an officer with a slipper. The incident dates back to June 5, 2020, when she had visited the officer with a list of farmers’ complaints.

The famous social media star found herself amid a controversy over an alleged hate speech during her election campaign in the Balasmand village of Adampur constituency. Sonali Phogat reportedly urged everyone to chant ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogans, adding that whoever doesn't must be from Pakistan. This led to a huge controversy and she had to apologise for her statement.
