Well, all those who think she bagged her first big breakthrough Shah Rukh Khan starrer Om Shanti Om in 2007 will be stunned to know that wasn’t her first project. Instead, she was given her first break by songwriter and singer Himesh Reshammiya in his hit song Naam Hai Tera in 2006.
Deepika made her debut in films through a Kannada-language film, Aishwarya, in which she featured for the first time on the silver screen in September 2006.
After watching her in Himesh’s song, Farah Khan signed her for Om Shanti Om opposite SRK.
Deepika started off as a model for Kingfisher and also featured in its annual calendar. She also bagged 'Kingfisher Model of the Year' award in 2005.
Did you know, Deepika was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first choice for Saawariya? Although, both the films – Om Shanti Om and Saawariya were released on the same date in the same year November 9, 2007.
