SV Vismaya, a 24-year-old woman, who got married barely a year back, was found dead inside her house in Sasthamkotta in Kerala's Kollam district. Her body was found hanging inside the bathroom of the house where she lived with her husband, Kiran Kumar. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and investigations are on. Vismaya, a student of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery, married Kiran Kumar, who is a native of Kollam district and works as an assistant motor vehicle inspector in the motor vehicles department. They tied the knot in 2020.
Recently, Vismaya, according to sources, had informed her cousin that she was being assaulted for dowry by her husband.
According to the Kollam Police, the 24-year-old woman was found hanging in the bathroom of her husband's house in the morning of June 21 in Sasthamcotta, Kollam district.
Vismaya shared pictures with her family over WhatsApp, and as per sources, the pictures clearly showed her bruises. She shared with her relatives the alleged ordeal that she had to daily go through.
Vismaya's father has claimed that as a part of his daughter's dowry, he had given Kiran Kumar 800 grams of gold, some property, and a Toyota Yaris car. But not happy with the car, Kiran demanded money in exchange of it. But because he was told that this wasn't possible, he allegedly fought and abused Vismaya daily.
The police has registered a case of unnatural death. The family demands that Kiran should be tried for murder.
Vismaya's family has registered a case against Kiran for "murdering" their daugter. He has also been accused of dowry harassment. Kerala Women's Commission has registered a suo moto case on the death.
