The Tourism department in Kashmir installed a ‘Floating Theatre’ at Srinagar's popular tourist hub, the Dal Lake on October 29. The step was taken in a bid to promote tourism in the Valley. Movies are displayed in illuminated and decorated Shikaras. See pics here
The floating cinema hall was inaugurated on the last day of the 'Iconic Festival' which is to celebrate 75 years of independence.
This is Asia's first ‘Floating Theatre’ and after months of preparation a movie was on display for the first time on Friday.
The tourism department decided to show Hindi movies from the early 60s that were shot in the Valley.
The Dal Lake was illuminated and the shikaras were adorned with lights of various colours.
