Indian Railways plays a key role for tourists, and it has also achieved its best performance in the freight business. The Railways has marked a fabulous revenue and track laying in the financial year 2023-24.
According to official data, Indian Railways surpassed 1,500 metric tons of initial freight loading on March 15, 2024. Previously, Indian Railways achieved its best freight loading of 1,512 metric tons during the financial year 2022-23.
In the financial year of 2023-24, Indian Railways' total revenue stands at Rs 2.40 lakh crore. On the other hand, in the last financial year 2023-24, Indian Railways' total expenditure is Rs 2.26 lakh crore.
In the financial year 2023-24, the total number of passengers reached 648 crore, representing an increase of 52 crore compared to the same period last year, when the total was 596 crore.
