As the new financial year begins from April 1, cost of various items, ranging from daily household goods to electronic gadgets, could witness a change. While, some items may become a bit more pocket-friendly, others could increase your expenses.
Several large appliances such as Television, Refrigerator, Air Conditioner and Coolers will become costlier from April 1. The manufacturers have already informed about the possible rise before. The companies have attributed this hike mainly to the increase in cost of raw materials used for manufacturing the products.
The price of smartphones is expected to go up. This is due to the 2.5 per cent increase in import tax on mobile accessories like charger, battery, headphone announced in the Budget.
Automobiles could see a price rise of about 3 to 5 per cent from the coming financial year. Companies such as Maruti, Tata and Nissan have already made announcement regarding the hike.
Air travel would get costlier as the Airports Authority of India has increased the security fee for domestic travel from Rs 160 to Rs 200. At the same time, the said fee for international travel has been raised from $5.2 to $12.
India Post will start charging fee for deposit and withdrawal in its payment bank. Deposit of over Rs 10,000 and withdrawal of more than Rs 25,000 will now attract charges.
