From Nawab Malik To Zeeshan Siddique, 6 Big Losers In Maharashtra Assembly Polls

 Zeeshan Siddique, a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and son of the late Baba Siddique, suffered a loss in the Vandre East constituency in Mumbai.

Despite the Mahayuti coalition's sweeping victory across Maharashtra, Siddique was defeated by Varun Sardesai, nephew of Uddhav Thackeray, who represented Shiv Sena (UBT). Sardesai won with over 57,000 votes, defeating Siddique, who secured 46,000 votes, by a margin of more than 11,000 votes. After the results, Siddique expressed his gratitude to his supporters in an online post.

Milind Deora, a prominent Shiv Sena leader, was defeated in the Worli constituency by Aaditya Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT). Deora lost by a margin of 8,801 votes, despite his significant political standing and experience. 

Yugendra Shrinivas Pawar, a member of the NCP’s Sharad Pawar faction and grandnephew of NCP founder Sharad Pawar, lost his election battle against his relative, Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Yugendra faced a crushing defeat, losing by more than 100,000 votes, highlighting the significant political divide within the Pawar family.

 Prithviraj Chavan, the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, lost his bid for the Karad South Assembly seat to BJP's Dr. Atulbaba Suresh Bhosale.

Chavan, who has had a prominent career in national and state politics, was defeated by Bhosale, who won the seat with 139,505 votes. Chavan's loss in this constituency, a significant defeat in his long political career, came as a surprise to many.

Balasaheb Thorat, a veteran Congress leader and an eight-time MLA from Sangamner, was defeated by first-time Shiv Sena candidate Amol Dhondiba Khatal.

Thorat, who had represented the constituency since 1985, lost by a margin of 10,560 votes. His defeat marked the end of his long political tenure in the region, where he had established a strong presence through his work in cooperative educational institutions and his previous role as Maharashtra's Agriculture and Revenue Minister.

Former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Nawab Malik, part of the faction led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, faced a heavy defeat in the Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar constituency.

Malik finished in fourth place, garnering only 15,501 votes, while the Samajwadi Party's Abu Asim Azmi emerged victorious with over 54,000 votes. All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) candidate Ateeque Ahmad Khan secured second place with more than 42,000 votes.
