Expressing concern, the Centre has asked the states of Kerala and Maharashtra to consider night curfews in areas with high COVID-19 case numbers as India reports more than 40,000 new infections for three days in a row on Saturday.
A bigger cause for concern was the rising test positivity rate in the state. Kerala recorded a TPR of 19.2% on Friday, up from just over 18% on the previous day.
Though, Kerala has one of India's lowest COVID fatality rates at 0.5%, the fear of a third wave of COVID-19 wave looms large.
