Another big name in the Modi Cabinet is four-time Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. This is the first time that Chouhan has become the Union cabinet minister for the first time in his more than three-decade-long political career. He was the CM of Madhya Pradesh from 2020 to 2023 and previously from 2005 to 2018.
JD (Secular) leader and former Chief Minister of Karnataka HD Kumaraswamy is the son of former PM HD Deve Gowda. Kumaraswamy won from the Mandya constituency of Karnataka. He is one of the two JD(S) candidates who won the Lok Sabha elections. HD Kumaraswamy is a two-time Chief Minister as he served as the Karnataka CM from 2006-7 and then from 2018-19.
Hindustan Aawam Morcha (HAM) leader and former CM of Bihar, Jitan Ram Manjhi was Bihar's chief minister between 2014-2015. The Dalit leader was the first chief minister from the state's Musahar community. An MLA since 1980, Manjhi has been elected the Lok Sabha MP from Bihar's Gaya.
Khattar, who recently resigned as the CM of Haryana, got elected to Lok Sabha from the Karnal constituency. Khattar was the Chief Minister till March this year. A former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh pracharak has served as the Chief Minister for two terms since October 2014 and has been representing Karnal Legislative Assembly since 2014.
Former Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal has again got a chance to work as a minister in the Modi 3.0. He was serving as the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, and Minister of AYUSH in the Modi 2.0. Sonowal served as the CM of Assam between 2016-2021.
