India rang in its 73rd Republic Day by showcasing its military might as well as featuring a total of 21 tableaux, 12 of various states and Union Territories and nine of ministries during the parade at Rajpath on Wednesday (January 26). Have a look at the tableaux of various states each representing different themes.

'Karnataka: The cradle of Traditional Handicrafts' was the theme of the southern state's tableau. Karnataka is known as the cradle of Traditional Handicrafts as 16 artifacts possess global indicator (GI) tag.

The theme of Arunachal Pradesh's tableau was Anglo-Abor (Adi) Wars, which is based on the resistance of the tribal people of the state, particularly the Adis of Siang region, who had bravely fought against the imperial policy of colonial expansion of the erstwhile British rulers in India.

The theme of Gujarat’s tableau was “Gujarat ke Adivasi Krantiveer.” A terrifying massacre took place in Sabarkantha district, 100 years back, where Britishers fired and killed 1200 tribals during freedom struggle led by Motilal Tejawat.

Goa tableau was based on the theme 'symbols of Goan Heritage'. The tableau showcased Fort Aguada, Martyrs' Memorial at Azad Maidan in Panaji and Dona Paula.

As Meghalaya celebrates its 50 years of statehood this year, the tableau was dedicated to that theme. The front part of the tableau showed a woman weaving a bamboo basket and the several bamboo and cane products of Meghalaya.

The theme of Haryana's tableau was 'number one in sports'. Out of the 7 medals won by India in Tokyo Olympics 2020, Haryana bagged 4. Similarly, in Paralympics 2020, out of the 19 medals won by the country, the players of Haryana got 6.
