From Acting To Clearing Civil Services Exam To Become IPS, Meet Woman Who Got AIR 51
Born on October 8, 1980, in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Simala Prasad grew up in a family that emphasized education and cultural values. Her mother, Mehrunnisa Parvez, is a well-known writer, while her father, Dr. Bhagirath Prasad, has had an impressive career as an IAS officer, university vice-chancellor, and MP representing Bhind (2014-2019).
Simala developed a strong passion for dance and acting early in life. Throughout her school and college years, she actively participated in cultural events and theater, fostering her love for the performing arts.
Simala attended St. Joseph's Co-ed School and went on to earn a B.Com from the Institute for Excellence in Higher Education. She then completed her post-graduate studies at Barkatullah University, where she graduated as a top student and received a gold medal.
Starting her career in public service, Simala joined the Madhya Pradesh Police as a DSP after passing the MPPSC exam. Despite her accomplishments, she aspired to further her career and began preparing for the UPSC exam.
With encouragement from her family, Simala cleared the UPSC exam on her first try, officially entering the ranks of the IPS with AIR 51. Though initially unplanned, this career path became her goal, inspired by her family’s guidance.
Alongside her work as an IPS officer, Simala ventured into Bollywood, making her debut with the film Alif in 2017, followed by Nakkash in 2019, where she showcased her acting abilities.
Simala’s journey has not been without difficulties; a knee injury required her to give up badminton, but she remained dedicated to her goals. Her story exemplifies the balance between following one’s passion and fulfilling professional duties.
