Though assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are still a few months away, there are intense speculations in the political circles that BJP may field Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from Ayodhya to contest the 2022 polls.
Even since he became the chief minister, the saint-politician has been frequently visiting Ayodhya city to review the progress of the construction of the proposed Ram Temple there.
It may be noted that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath celebrated Diwali in a grand manner in 2017 and the state government has been organising ‘Ayodhya Mahotsav’ every year to celebrate the auspicious Hindu festival.
Since the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are very crucial if BJP has to retain power at the Centre in 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the saffron party is also preparing to project the Ayodhya Model as a big example before the entire country.
By projecting Yogi Adityanath as its chief ministerial face, the party has already put to rest the speculations about any leadership change before the upcoming polls.
With Yogi Adityanath as its face, the ruling party also wants to revive its Hindutva card in a bid to re-connect with the majority Hindu voters in the state.
Ayodhya – the birthplace of Lord Ram – holds a special place in the hearts of millions of Hindus and that’s why the holy city is at the centre of BJP’s strategy for winning the upcoming assembly polls in UP.
