Chaitra Navratri, a nine-day Hindu festival dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga, marks the arrival of spring and is celebrated with great enthusiasm across India. Devotees observe fasts during these auspicious days, focusing on consuming a balanced and nutritious diet. Here are five vrat-friendly recipes that you can easily prepare at home during Navratri.
Khichdi is always a comforting choice, whether during fasting or not. Soak sabudana (tapioca pearls) in water for a few hours. In a pan, heat ghee or oil and add cumin seeds, green chillies, and potatoes. Sauté until the potatoes are golden brown. Add the soaked sabudana, roasted peanuts, rock salt, and a squeeze of lemon juice. Cook until the sabudana turns transparent and tender.
