On Anant Chaturdashi (September 12), Ganpati Visarjan took place and devotees bid a tearful goodbye to Bappa across the globe. Ganpati is welcomed home on Ganesh Chaturthi which was celebrated this year on September 2 and the Ganesh Utsav festival comes to an end on Anant Chaturdashi. Devotees performed the Visarjan ceremony and the entire city was on streets chanting 'Ganpati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya'. The festival holds greater significance in Maharashtra where it is one of the major festivities. Several huge and majestic Ganpati pandals are made during Ganesh Utsav and devotees go Pandal-hopping seeking Bappa's blessings much similar Durga Puja.
