At the 2023 Auto Expo, the Kia EV9 made its Indian debut but in its concept form. However, the electric SUV is now launched in select international markets and could soon be following its route to Indian shores.
The design cues of the concept are largely retained, and it does look futuristic from all angles. The overall silhouette is boxy and gets a squarish design for the wheels, which can be had in 19- or 21-inch configurations. The tail section of the EV9 embodies cohesiveness with the front end with a minimalistic approach and clever-looking lighting elements.
The Kia EV9 is available with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive with a 99.8 kWh battery pack. The rear-wheel drive version accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 9.4 seconds and gets a claimed range of 563 km. The AWD trim, however, does 0-100 kmph in 5.3 seconds and delivers a claimed range of 512 km.
On the inside, the Kia EV9 feels rather conventional with a four-spoke steering wheel and multi-layered dashboard.
The front seats of the Kia EV9 come with leg extenders that can be used while the car is parked or charging. These seats are ventilated and also come with a memory function.
Like the Seltos and other Kia SUVs, a single glass pane houses the instrument cluster and infotainment unit. They measure 12.3 inches each.
The EV9 gets wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, along with a rather interesting car wash mode, which ensures all checks before the vehicle enters the washing facility.
For bass heads, the Kia EV9 gets a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, which also gets an external amplifier.
