Developed in collaboration with Bajaj, Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X have broken covers in UK, ahead of their India debut scheduled on July 5.
These motorcycles use a new 398 cc single-cylinder motor that develops a peak power output of 40 PS against 37.5 Nm of max torque. The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
The Scrambler 400 X comes with protection for the sump, radiator, and headlamp, along with a longer front mudguard, handguards, and a handlebar brace.
The Speed 400 features the classic profile of standard motorcycles, with a finned cylinder head and traditional exhaust header clamps, neatly merged with an upswept silencer.
The Speed 400’s two-tone paint schemes, each featuring a prominent Triumph tank graphic, reflect its dynamic roadster style, with Carnival Red, Caspian Blue and Phantom Black colours available. The Scrambler will be available in Matt Khaki Green and Fusion White, Carnival Red and Phantom Black, plus Phantom Black and Silver Ice options.
A part-digital, part-analogue instrument cluster is used on these motorcycles. It comprises a large analogue speedometer, and there's a small screen with a digital speedo, tacho, fuel gauge, gear position indicator and more.
The Speed 400 has an accessible 790 mm of seat height, while the Scrambler X’s seat height is set at 835 mm.
