The all-new BMW 7 Series has been launched in India along with the BMW i7. The BMW 740i M Sport is locally produced at BMW Group Plant Chennai, while the all-electric BMW i7 xDrive60 comes as a CBU model. The diesel variant will be introduced later. Bookings for these cars are now open, while deliveries will commence in March 2023. The cars are available at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.70 crore and Rs 1.95 crore for BMW 740i M Sport and BMW i7 xDrive60, respectively.
The face comprises a vertically-split headlamp architecture, using sparkling Swarovski crystals for BMW Crystal Lighting. The all-new BMW 7 Series exceeds the length of its predecessor by 131mm, thereby taping the length at 5,391 mm.
Around the rear, the design looks neat. The boot lid is rather squared-off and features super-slim LED taillamps. Badges on both 7-Series and i7 are different for obvious reasons. Moroever, distinctive detailing is used on splitters as well.
The petrol engine of the BMW 740i M Sport melds 381 hp and 520 Nm. The car accelerates from 0-100 km/hr in just 5.4 seconds with a top speed of 250 Km/hr. The BMW i7, on the other hand, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/hr in 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 240 km/hr. It produces an output of 544 hp and a maximum torque of 745 Nm. The high-voltage lithium-ion recyclable battery has a net capacity of 101.7 kWh providing a range of up to 625 kms (WLTP).
The Executive Lounge Seating behind the front passenger reclines to 42.5 degrees, while the BMW 7-Series and i7 also offer various My Modes - My Mode Relax, My Mode Theatre and My Mode Expressive. The much-hyped My Mode Theatre brings down a 31.3-inch touch screen from the ceiling. It gets integrated Amazon Fire TV module to stream videos.
Another highlight of the new BMW 7-Series and i7 is the new Live Cockpit Professional, which includes a freestanding BMW Curved Display that houses a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.9-inch Control Display, and BMW Head-up Display.
