Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: From Aircraft-Like Features To Modern Ergonomic Design Elements, Awesome Amenities Explained- In Pics

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today inspected the first rake and said that several changes have been incorporated after learning from the Vande Bharat Chair car rake. Here are some awesome features of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train:

The loco pilot cabin is modern and fully air-conditioned. Unlike the previous engines, the cabin is similar to that of one of the current chair car Vande Bharat train and has an anti-sleep feature to keep the loco pilot awake.

Just like aeroplanes, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train has a black box which has been painted orange. The black box will keep a record of all train parameters and can be used to rectify shortcomings as well as identify the reason in case of any fortunate incidents. 

In old rakes including the LHBs, the middle berth is tied to the upper berth using chains. A steel holder replaces that chain in the Vande Bharat sleeper train, thus giving it a luxury look.

In the existing coaches, there are iron plates attached to the roof to keep the upper berth in place while there is no precautionary measure to save people from a fall while asleep. The new train has a specialised ergonomic safety handrail attached to the upper berth to save passengers from falling.

The train has not only reading lights for each berth but also magazine/bookholder pockets to help passengers keep their small things organised. The pockets can also be used to keep smartphones, but, mind it - 'Apne Samaan Ki Raksha Swaym Karen' - protect your belongings yourself.

There are two separate bottleholders below the middle table for lower berth passengers. Thus, there are four bottle holders in total including the two holed-out in the table.

The train is equipped with many sensors and buttons to open the door automatically. Once you press the button, the door will open automatically and no need to pull it to open.

The train has an aesthetically designed anti-skid ladder to help passengers climb the middle and the upper berth. Thus, no more acrobatics to reach the upper berth. This will help even elderly passengers including women to help them climb up easily.

The colourful exterior of the fully air-conditioned train adds to the travel experience and there are no doubts if the people are spotted taking a selfie with the train once it joins the revenue operations.
