Volvo EX90 EV unveiled as brand’s SAFEST car ever, electric equivalent of XC90 luxury SUV: IN PICS

Swedish luxury carmaker Volvo has revealed the new all-electric, seven-seat EX90 SUV as the brand’s new flagship with a range of 600km (WLTP cycle).

The electric SUV is effectively an electric-only equivalent to the existing Volvo XC90, the luxury EV and is due to go on sale globally in 2024.

The EX90 is the third electric model from Volvo after the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge and the first to underpin by a dedicated EV SPA2 architecture. 

In terms of the design, the Volvo EX90 is based on the Concept Recharge, with familiar Volvo design cues like the Thor’s hammer headlights.

The Volvo EX90 will get a large 14.5-inch vertically oriented touchscreen that features Volvo’s Google-based infotainment and 5G connection. 

Other features includes a panoramic sunroof, 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system featuring Dolby Atmos, and phone key technology.

Volvo says that the new EX90 EV is the safest car they have ever built and features Lidar technology that works with interior and exterior sensors and cameras to power ADAS.

The Volvo EX90 will offer a 408hp and 770Nm of torque output, while the Performance model will offer 517hp and 910Nm of torque.
